Mapletree Investments acquires 8,192 student beds in UK, Germany

The $1.7b deal will boost Mapletree's UK portfolio bed count to over 17,000.

Mapletree Investments acquired 8,192 operational beds in the UK and Germany and an operating platform from Cuscaden Peak Investments for $1.7b.

“The newly acquired portfolio includes a range of student accommodation properties offering extensive amenities and convenient access to universities. These assets are strategically located in key university cities in the UK such as Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Oxford and York, and Bremen in Germany,” Mapletree Investments said.

The acquisition brings Mapletree’s UK portfolio bed count to over 17,000.

The operating platform which manages Student Castle and Capitol Students will provide Mapletree with direct operational control of the acquired portfolio.

The operating platform has a Global Student Living’s Platinum certification, one of the most prestigious awards in the student housing sector.
