Market Update: STI extends to two-day winning streak

The Straits Times Index ended trading on Tuesday with a slight jump, higher by 0.78 points or 0.03% at 2,259.68.

Despite the continued uptick, stock decliners outnumbered advancers, 247 to 206, with about 1.49 billion securities worth S$1.26 billion changed hands.

Among the top gainers were HongkongLand with 3.65% or US$0.15 gain, JSH with 0.44% or US$0.11 increase, and JMH which went higher by US$0.64 or 1.14%.

On to Wall Street, where US stocks made a U-turn on the second trading day of 2021.

The Dow Jones Industrial closed at 30,391.60 up by 167.71 points or 0.55%, S&P 500 higher by 26.21 points or 0.71% to 3,726.86 while the NASDAQ ended up at 12,818.96 up by 120.51 points or 0.95%.

Meanwhile, London's blue-chip index FTSE 100 also continued trading in the green up by 0.67% or 40.37 points at 6,612.25. FTSE 250 also ended higher by 0.87% or 179.48 points at 20,717.37.
