This local startup is reinventing the advertising game

Gush Ad has found ways to also allow consumers earn from the ads.

Gush Ad bills itself as the only platform that brings the consumer into the advertising game through incentivized engagement.

The way consumers are engaged on the platform is by allowing consumers to perform actions on-behalf of brands in exchange for a cash reward. Some examples of the actions that can be undertaken by the users are: Tweeting a message and a link, completing surveys for marketing research companies, signing up/downloading apps and even buying and sharing about products.

The range of rewards they get is anywhere between $0.50 to $100. More recently, Gush Ad has begun exploring opportunities with affiliate marketing and CPA networks to serve their offers and campaigns into the platform.

“Since our launch in February, close to 100,000 users have signed up and brands like SingTel, L'Oreal and OCBC have advertised on Gush Ad, said spokesperson.

Gush Ad is consists of 2 main parts: a consumer engagement platform, where GushAd.com provides users with aggregated opportunities to earn from advertising interactions and a corporate platform (gushad.com/corporate) where the advertisement creation tools provide advertisers with more effective ways to engage consumers. Soon to come, Gush Feed technology will allow any network or publisher to serve Ads created with the advertisement creation tools.

“Online advertising is an $80 billion industry growing at 20% per year but is terribly ineffective and we have the solutions to fix it,” said spokesperson,”

“ Beyond the incentive offers, our technology brings traditional affiliate marketing and offer walls into a social, dynamic and design driven platform. Our initial traction has proven our hypothesis that incentives help advertisers achieve their goals in a cheaper, more effective way,” he added.

Gush Ad is run by Gushcloud Inc and the company is currently headquartered in Singapore with a team of 18 people. A seed round was raised in March from the co-founder of Alibaba group and the former Chief Software Architect of Yahoo Inc - Mr John Wu.

The company was founded in June 2011 by Vincent Ha and Althea Lim who were partners in a boutique digital marketing agency and built Gush Ad as a tool to serve their needs as digital marketers.

“Today Gush Ad has 96,000 registered members and we've help brands execute more than 900,000 actions. We have sales offices in Singapore, United States, Malaysia and Indonesia,” said the spokesperson.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
