Half of Singaporeans believe greenwashing is prevalent amongst local companies

Six in 10 are sceptical about companies’ claims relating to ESG impact.

More than half of Singaporeans doubt the authenticity of  claims made by companies relating to ESG activities and impact, saying they could be “misleading.”

Highlighting Singaporeans' distrust, 55% believe greenwashing is prevalent among local companies.

According to SEC Newgate, four in 10 Singaporeans are actively looking for companies’ disclosures relating to their ESG initiatives and performance. 

The majority of Singaporeans also believe companies must take action on ESG issues  (76%) and should express their position on matters important to both their employees and customers (70%).
