IHH subsidiary raises damages claim against Daiichi Sankyo to $1.8b
NTK initially sought damages of $179.7m
Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd. (NTK), an indirect subsidiary of IHH Healthcare Berhad, has raised its damages claim against Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited from $179.7m (¥20b / RM 634m) to $1.8b (¥200b / RM 5.7b).
NTK filed an application with the Tokyo District Court to amend its ongoing lawsuit, which alleges that Daiichi Sankyo obstructed NTK’s acquisition offers for Fortis Healthcare Limited and its subsidiary Fortis Malar Hospitals Limited.
NTK initially sought damages of $179.7m (¥20b) in a November 2023 filing.
On 6 February 2025, NTK submitted an expert report by Osborne Partners, which detailed losses suffered under three hypothetical scenarios where Daiichi Sankyo did not interfere. The report estimated damages ranging from $70.1m (¥7.8b) to nearly $1.8b (¥200b).
NTK reserves the right to further increase the claim, citing ongoing damage caused by Daiichi Sankyo’s actions. The next court hearing is scheduled for 11 July 2025.
