MUIS to launch digital halal certificates
It will feature QR codes.
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) will introduce digital halal certificates for all halal-certified establishments from 1 October 2025.
The move was announced at the Singapore Halal International Seminar on 24 September 2025, alongside a new, enhanced framework for Foreign Halal Certification Bodies (FHCBs).
The initiatives aim to boost transparency, strengthen consumer trust, and support the growth of Singapore’s halal industry.
Under the enhanced FHCB framework, MUIS will implement stricter assessment criteria, risk-based monitoring, and regular reviews to ensure imported halal products meet Singapore’s standards.
The process will be digital, transparent, and backed by strengthened regulatory powers under the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA).
The new digital halal certificates will feature QR codes, allowing consumers to instantly verify the validity of certifications via their mobile devices.
MUIS said the update will improve transparency, streamline processes, and help Singapore’s halal industry adapt to the digital economy.
