Standard Chartered appoints new regional heads of private banking

The appointment is effective 1 January 2024.

Standard Chartered Bank has named Vinay Gandhi as global head of South Asian community, and regional head of Africa, Middle East, and Europe, Private Banking.

In his expanded role, Gandhi will be responsible for increasing the mandate and spearheading one of SCB’s largest businesses.

Gandhi’s appointment is effective from 1 January 2024.

Meanwhile, Foo Tian Ong has been appointed as regional head, Southeast Asia; and Singapore location head, private banking.

Foo will join the bank in December 2023, and will be based in Singapore.

Foo brings more than two decades of private banking experience. He joins SC from UBS, where he was most recently business sector head for Thailand and the Philippines, and was also responsible for NRI and Vietnam.

Before UBS, Foo honed his banking career in corporate banking, institutional equities sales and research at leading financial institutions, with a special focus on the Thai market.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
