Sales on new project launches in December were down month-on-month given the holiday period as well as the underlying sluggishness in demand due to the prolonged effects of the cooling measures, rising interest rates and the slowing economy. Developers sold 384 units in December, which is almost half the units sold in November.

On a positive note, however, Barclays said that this is the highest December sales since December 2012's 1,410. The momentum however was not sustained in the following years with developers selling only less than 300 units.
