Chart of the Day: HDB upgraders increasingly favoured pricier condos in Q2

Share of condo units sold at less than $1m fell to 31%.

This chart by Edmund Tie Research showed that more buyers with HDB addresses bought pricier condo units in Q2. In particular, the proportion of condos priced between $2m and $3m almost doubled to 7%.

According to the report, these mainly comprised larger units of about 1,000 to 1,500 sqft.

The buyers still generally favored low-cost condos, with 42.4% of condo units sold to them were priced between $1m and $1.5m, edging up from 41.3% in Q1. However, the proportion of condo units sold at less than $1m fell to 31% from 37% over the same period.

The share of condo units sold to those with HDB addresses, which included HDB upgraders and investors who are living in HDB flats, fell to 29.5% in Q2 from 37.8% in the previous quarter.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
