Black Friday Sale: Which products are on top of Singaporeans’ shopping lists?

Singaporeans spend $101 to $500 during the shopping event.

Personal care and beauty products are on top of the shopping list of more than half of Singaporeans (56%) planning to participate in the Black Friday sale, YouGov has found.

Apart from these products,  most shoppers also want to buy consumer electronics and tech-related items (55%), and fashion apparel (54%) during the shopping event.

Others will buy either groceries and other packaged foods and beverages (31%), sports goods (23%), games and toys (21%) or home decoration and furniture (20%).

A few were interested in buying jewellery and accessories (17%) and books and stationery (11%).

Close to half of Black Friday Sale shoppers (44%) typically spend between $101 to $500 during the event, whilst a quarter spends between $51 to $100.

Meanwhile, one in 10 said they typically spend between $501 and $1,000, while just one in 20 spends more than that.

To reach audiences better during the Black Friday sale, YouGov said shops must advertise online since it was the most-recalled advertising channel, with 48% saying they recall seeing ads there.

Other good channels to advertise the sale include shopping apps and websites (39%), Facebook (32%), YouTube (26%) and Instagram (24%).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
