Gov’t to launch unit pricing programme at major supermarket chains

The initiative aims to enhance price transparency.

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore and the Consumers Association of Singapore will launch a unit pricing pilot programme at major supermarket chains from 1 September.

These include NTUC FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Prime Supermarket, Cold Storage and Giant.

The initiative aims to enhance price transparency and help consumers make more informed purchasing decisions. Participating outlets will display unit prices for selected categories of grocery items for eight weeks.

During the pilot period, consumers may be approached by a market survey firm to provide feedback on the benefits of the programme.
