S’poreans stick with traditional channels for brand access

They prefer email and phone calls when connecting with brands.

Singaporean consumers prefer connecting with brands through email and phone calls, according to a report by SleekFlow.

WhatsApp ranks next in popularity, followed by live chat on websites, in-app messaging, and social media chat. Chatbots, however, are the least preferred channel for communication.

Citing Statista data, SleekFlow noted that although Singapore has the highest internet adoption rate in Southeast Asia, consumers still favour structured, traceable channels like phone and email.

“This suggests that higher digital maturity does not necessarily lead to a preference for informal, instant communication, highlighting that ASEAN businesses need to be prepared for multiple communication preferences,” SleefFlow said.

SleekFlow surveyed 200 companies and 200 consumers across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
