Grab tests feature matching women drivers with female passengers

The feature is amongst the initiatives under Grab’s Women Programme.

Grab has begun testing a feature that increases the chance of women drivers being matched with female passengers.

Called the Women Passengers Preferred (BETA), Grab said the feature “will serve as an additional layer of safety for women driver-partners.

“Toggling on the feature will prioritise matches between women drivers and passengers. If there are no women passengers in the vicinity, our partners will still be matched to a non-woman passenger based on our existing allocation approach,” Grab said.

“This ensures that the earnings of our women driver-partners and the ride experience of our passengers are not compromised,” the company added.

The feature is amongst  the initiatives under Grab’s Women Programme which aims to “dismantle stereotypes that prevent women from actively participating in Southeast Asia’s growing digital economy.”

As part of the programme, Grab has set up women-only onboarding sessions, launched an anti-harassment guidebook,  and a women-only forum where women drivers can share best practices, amongst others.
