A record 4.9mln passengers flew with Tiger in FY09

In the year ended 31 March 2010, the number of passengers that chose Tiger Airways saw a 54% increase compared to the previous year.

For the month of March 2010, passenger volume rose to 488,000 or a 51% growth compared to March 2009. Meanwhile Average Load Factors or the number of seats sold as a percentage of total seats available increased 3 percentage points to 84%.

Tiger Airways President and Group CEO Tony Davis said, "The record passenger numbers, despite the global financial crisis and the onset of the H1N1 flu, reflects how passengers have embraced the low fare revolution in the Asia Pacific region. The consistent growth in our passenger numbers throughout the year provides us with the confidence to expand our low cost, low fare model to even more destinations."

Last 28 March services were launched to Tiger Airways' newest destination, Brisbane, from Melbourne, Adelaide and Rockhampton. Tiger will also be increasing services from Singapore to Krabi, Hat Yai and Phuket starting 20 April.
