OUE denies “ongoing talks” to buy United Engineers stakes

But it admits being approached for the said matter.

Following the news of the planned purchase of stakes in United Engineers Ltd. (UE), OUE Ltd. clarified that there have been no talks or definitive plans to pursue with the purchase just yet.

In a statement filed to the Singapore Exchange, OUE admitted that it has been approached in relation to the purchase of shares of UE but as of the moment, no discussions have started between the stakeholders.

"There is no assurance whatsoever that any definitive or binding agreement for the purchase of shares of UE will be reached," OUE stated.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that OUE is backed by billionaire Riady family in its plan to pursue a stake in UE.

OUE stressed that they will make an appropriate announcement in the event that there is any definitive agreement to purchase shares of UE.

Last month, OCBC and Great Eastern Holdings announced that they are reviewing options for their combined stakes in UE.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
