ST Engineering’s Urban Solutions secures smart car park contract at Dubai Mall

The project aims to facilitate automatic and ticketless parking fee collection.

ST Engineering's Urban Solutions business has secured a contract to extend its TransCore tolling technology to implement a smart car park system at Dubai Mall.

The project will integrate Urban Solutions' smart car park system with the existing Salik traffic toll system to enable automatic and ticketless parking fee collection at the mall, which has over 13,000 parking lots.

The system uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to automatically capture and recognize license plate numbers, facilitating seamless processing of parking fees. The incurred parking charges will be deducted directly from the prepaid Salik accounts of the vehicle owners.

The enhanced solution is expected to optimize manpower deployment and bring operational and maintenance cost savings to car park operations.

“This project demonstrates our Urban Solutions team's synergistic capabilities by combining TransCore’s expertise in the Salik traffic toll system with the barrier-free smart car park technology developed by Urban Solutions in Singapore,” said Chew Men Leong, president of Urban Solutions at ST Engineering.

The company designed, built, and currently maintains Salik’s Open Road Tolling system and back office system.

“We look forward to extending this enhanced account-based payment solution to other customers in the Middle East,” Leong said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
