SimplyGo app enhances commuter experience with one-stop platform for transit needs

The app won the Mobile - Transportation category in the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025.

Public transport is an essential part of daily life in Singapore, yet most available transit-related mobile apps focus solely on journey planning. There is no single, unified platform for commuters to plan their journeys and access travel card services like top-up, management, application, replacement, refund, and claim

The SimplyGo app offers a simplified user experience by consolidating transit services, journey planning and lifestyle features into a simple-to-use transit app.

The app enables eligible commuters to conveniently apply for concession cards, replace existing ones and purchase monthly concession passes. Users can manage travel cards, view transaction history, top up stored-value and account-based cards manually or via Auto Top-up, file transit claims, and block lost cards. It also allows parents and caregivers to manage and top up their loved ones’ travel cards remotely.

The SimplyGo app is also the first of its kind to integrate with and support government initiatives.

In the past, Singapore citizens who were issued vouchers for participating in government initiatives or public transport subsidies could only redeem them (to their travel cards) at ticket offices or self-help machines at selected MRT stations and bus interchanges. Now, such persons could conveniently redeem their public transport vouchers through the SimplyGo app, eliminating the need for physical redemption.

To date, the app has enabled the issuance of about 318,000 electronic vouchers to beneficiaries.

Government agencies have also been leveraging the convenience of the SimplyGo app in other ways, such as using its electronic wallet to disburse allowances to their volunteers.

The platform also facilitates the Land Transport Authority’s “Travel Smart Journeys” programme that incentivises commuters to switch from train to bus during peak hours or to travel during off-peak hours.

Beyond being a functional tool, the app also includes gamification features like the “Space Shooter” game to engage users whilst rewarding them with wallet credits converted from reward points that were earned through transactions made on the app.

With over 525,000 monthly active users as of January 2025, the SimplyGo app is expected to continuously innovate and set new standards for transit efficiency and accessibility in Singapore.

“SimplyGo remains committed to simplifying journeys and creating value for commuters. Upcoming plans include more gamification and lifestyle features, enhanced security, a multilingual chatbot and support for first- and last-mile green transport modes. A future milestone is enabling direct fare payments, making the app a truly all-in-one transit solution,” the company said.

The SimplyGo app was awarded the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025 in the Mobile - Transportation category for its innovativeness and success in enhancing the commuter experience.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
