Not enough aid? 86% of Singaporeans want gov't to do more vs inflation

In June, the government announced a $1.5b support package for lower-income groups.

Singaporeans find the $1.5b support package from the government insufficient to help them live through rising prices, a survey by YouGov has found.

Based on the survey, 86% of Singaporeans want the government to do more against inflation beyond the relief package announced in June.

Of the 86%, 48% said a lot more should be done to help people feel secure amidst sharp prices.

Across age groups, Gen X (88%) are the most expectant of greater support from the government.

YouGov said the demand for more support is a sign that Singaporeans are feeling the pressure of the increased cost of living.

True enough, YouGov found that the cost of living of 94% of Singaporeans surveyed has gone up from a year ago.

Of the 94%, 72% said their cost of living has gone up a lot over the past 12 months, while 22% said it only changed a little.
