Fintechs accelerate global expansion with IFC partnerships

About 41% of Singapore-based fintechs surveyed see DLT as foundational to their operations.

Nearly all fintech leaders in Singapore (95%) now see cross-border expansion as critical to their growth strategy, according to BVI Finance’s Destination Digital report.

One key trend emerging from the research: fintechs are already executing their global strategies through specialist jurisdictions.

About 63% of respondents said their companies currently operate through entities in International Financial Centres (IFCs)—highlighting how cross-border structuring is already embedded in many business models.

Executives cited access to international markets as their top consideration when selecting jurisdictions. Meanwhile, access to funding and regulatory compliance pressures—each flagged by roughly 28% of respondents—remain key challenges shaping where and how firms expand.

The report also highlighted Singapore’s strong adoption of distributed ledger technology. About 41% of Singapore-based fintechs surveyed see DLT as foundational to their operations, a signal of the city’s maturing digital finance infrastructure.

The findings suggest that cross-border scale is now a near-universal strategic priority among Singapore fintech leaders

With funding access, market reach, and regulatory flexibility top of mind, many firms are increasingly turning to IFCs to structure their regional or global growth plans.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
