PEC wins gold award for workplace health program

The plant and terminal engineering specialist was recognized at the Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award 2010 for its dedicated Workplace Health Promotion program.

The biennial Singapore HEALTH Award gives national recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programs and is presented by the Health Promotion Board.

This is the fourth year that PEC is participating in the Singapore HEALTH Award, and has been awarded in every year of its participation.

In a statement, PEC said it has a dedicated WHP committee that sets out health goals and plans a variety of activities to enhance health attitudes and beliefs at the workplace. These include creating opportunities for regular physical activities such as weekly badminton sessions and fun fitness programs like kickboxing and dance classes.

Aside from providing support for its staff to quit smoking, PEC also organises educational classes such as health talks, healthy food demos and stress management workshops to underscore the importance of healthy dietary habits.

Wong Peng, Managing Director, said, “We are pleased to receive national recognition for our WHP programme. The award reaffirms our commitment to promoting healthy and vibrant lifestyles for our employees, who are the driving force behind our success as an organisation. PEC’s WHP programme strives to educate, raise awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle for our employees, and we will seek continuous improvement in our workplace health activities to enhance the well-being of our staff and provide a working environment that is conducive for good health.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
