New $30m private members' club Vanta to open in MacDonald House

It is set to open its doors in December.

Vanta, a new private members’ club, is set to open in MacDonald House this December, following a $30m renovation of the heritage building on Orchard Road.

The club will span 16,000 square feet over two levels and is aimed at professionals across business, tech, media, and the arts. Membership will be by invitation only.

The project, two years in the making, combines architectural design, cultural research, and a curated approach to hospitality.

Wayne Lin, CEO of Vanta, said the club is designed for people who are “actively shaping conversations and leading change across industries,” and stressed that the club’s exclusivity would be based on influence rather than social status.

The design features Italian marble, custom finishes, and a mezzanine that overlooks the main salon. The space will include private dining rooms, an artificial intelligence-driven golf simulator, and secluded meeting areas.

Chef Alvin Leung, known for his Michelin-starred restaurants, will lead the club’s food programme.

Members will also enjoy access to a rarefied collection of investment-grade whiskies, single malts, and limited-edition bottlings that are seldom seen on the open market. The cellar will also house storied vintages and cult wines from elite vineyards across Europe, the Americas, and Australia.

For sake aficionados, the club will showcase small-batch brews, aged koshu, and coveted junmai daiginjo, sourced from some of Japan’s most celebrated producers. There will be exclusive tasting events, masterclasses with acclaimed sommeliers and distillers, and immersive journeys through regional and artisanal spirits, with direct access to the people behind them.

Vanta will run year-round events, including art shows, talks, and cultural salons, developed with established partners.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
