Gov’t launches PWD support in Tech4Good initiative
The programme will facilitate inclusive employment in the technology sector.
The Singaporean government has launched the Tech4Good Programme to provide better support for individuals with disabilities (PWDs) in the technology sector and support organisations in their efforts for a more inclusive workplace.
A collaboration between the Tech Talent Assembly (TTAB), a National Trades Union Congress-affiliated association and SG Enable, the programme was launched during the Tech Talent Assembly Awards and Dinner 2024 at the Carlton Hotel.
It will facilitate inclusive employment in the technology sector with two key objectives including training and placement, and advisory services.
“With rapid technological adoption within companies, it is crucial to address the misconceptions surrounding the abilities of PWDs. These outdated perceptions can limit organisations from harnessing the full potential of a diverse workforce,” Benjamin Mah, TTAB’s EXCO member and lead for the Tech4Good Chapter, said.
TTAB has also sought the expertise from partners including SGTech, Korn Ferry, and the President of the Security Association of Singapore to identify mentors to work with companies to offer roles for PWDs.
Additionally, TTAB will assist organisations in identifying transformation projects through the Operation & Technology Roadmap and help organisations access the Company Training Committee Grant, which co-funds up to 70% of project costs.
