Singapore's startup boom to create more jobs in 2017

Firms will be on the lookout for digital marketing, data analytics talents.

Next year will be a good one for jobseekers looking for a fresh start as the startup boom in Singapore is seen to create more jobs.

According to Hays Singapore managing director Lynne Roeder, this would be amongst the talent trends in 2017, as startup firms are set to create large number of roles. This is part of Singapore's plans to lock its position as the Silicon Valley of Asia.

“Entrepreneurship is always a driver for the economy, and a sizzling growth of start-ups in Singapore will create new roles for ambitious young Singaporeans,” Roeder noted.

Front and centre in the hiring pipeline will be junior-level candidates who are ambitious and aspirational in line with the culture of start-up firms. Specifically, these firms will be on the lookout for professional in the areas of digital marketing, data analytics, and financial and payment software in 2017.

“Candidates who have prior experience of creating new sales channels and expanding market share via new technology will stand out,” Roeder pointed out, saying that this will result to the increase of the number of digital marketing manager roles next year.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
