S’pore talent lags in AI adoption, reskilling not a focus: report

Singaporeans are more likely to reskill only if necessary.

Singaporeans are lagging in AI adoption, with only 53% of local talent willing to reskill to stay relevant in the AI era, Jobstreet reported.

Overall, Singaporean talent are more inclined to reskill only if necessary (41%). However, 22% expect GenAI to significantly impact their jobs, including job elimination or major role transformation, whilst 19% believe GenAI will not affect their jobs.

The report also revealed that 60% of Singaporean talent have tried GenAI in their work or personal life but only 43% use it monthly. Meanwhile, 40% of Singaporean talent remains unfamiliar with GenAI’s capabilities.

Notably, Singaporean talent recognise GenAI’s ability to reduce non-essential tasks (60%) and improve work quality (45%) as its key benefits. 

In addition, 51% expressed a need for guidance on which skills to learn, 46% highlighted the need for better learning courses, and 36% emphasised the importance of greater employer support in adopting GenAI in the workplace.

Jobstreet surveyed over 150,000 respondents across 188 countries including 3,260 in Singapore.
