Digital Realty, BDIA form joint venture to expand Indonesia data centres

It will tap into the growing demand for cloud and AI infrastructure.

Digital Realty and Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA) have formed a 50-50 joint venture, Digital Realty Bersama, to develop and operate data centres across Indonesia.

The venture expands Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL® into the country, tapping into growing demand for cloud and AI infrastructure.

The joint venture includes Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), BDIA’s Jakarta-based carrier-neutral data center platform, which will now operate as Digital Realty Bersama. BDIA’s key investors include Provident Capital Partners, Saratoga Investama Sedaya, Macquarie Asset Management, and Distro Hub.

Digital Realty Bersama operates two Jakarta data centers, name CGK11 in Central Jakarta and CGK10 in West Jakarta. CGK11 launched with 5MW of IT load capacity and will expand to 32MW. It serves as a major connectivity hub, linking to Indonesia’s largest internet exchange, APJII, and Digital Realty’s ServiceFabric™ platform for managing hybrid IT and AI workloads.

“Indonesia’s digital economy is growing rapidly, and we are committed to providing the infrastructure businesses need to scale,” said Serene Nah, managing director of Asia Pacific, Digital Realty.

Digital Realty invested $100m for a 50% stake in the joint venture. It will also earn property management and development fees.

Jakarta’s colocation market is expected to generate $499m in 2025, with a five-year CAGR of 11% and an estimated 54.6MW uptake, according to Structure Research.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
