Here’s how many Singaporeans use social media

The portion of users dropped this year, compared to 2022.

Out of the 6 million total population in Singapore, only 84.7%, or around 5.08 million are actively using social media, a report found.

In its Digital 2023 report, We Are Social and Meltwater found that social media users in Singapore declined from 5.3 million in 2022. This accounted for 89.5% of the total population at the time.

Globally, there are 4.76 million social media users, making up 59.4% of the total population.

The markets with the highest number of social media users are UAE (105.5%), South Korea (92%), Hong Kong (89.9%), the Netherlands (88.1%), Canada (85.7%), and Germany (85.1%).

Singapore ranked eighth, followed by Norway (84.5), and Taiwan and the UK with 84.4%.

The report noted that in the case of UAE, the number exceeded due to issues such as duplicate and “fake accounts.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
