IMDA expands GenAI initiative with AWS and Microsoft support

First launched in 2024, the initiative is designed to help SMEs integrate GenAI technologies into their operations.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is expanding its Generative AI (GenAI) x Digital Leaders initiative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft.

The enhanced programme aims to support over 1,000 digitally mature small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore and enable up to 500 GenAI implementation projects over the next year.

First launched in 2024, the initiative is designed to help SMEs integrate GenAI technologies into their operations.

Participating companies receive access to technical expertise, advisory support, and assistance with deploying tailored AI solutions. Since its inception, the programme has engaged more than 200 enterprises through discovery workshops and supported 50 completed projects.

These early efforts have demonstrated a notable impact, with participating businesses reporting productivity gains of up to 50% and annual cost savings of $300,000.

With the expansion, IMDA and its partners will double the number of technical workshops and one-on-one consultations. They also plan to reduce the development time and costs of GenAI solutions by half through the use of pre-built modules.

Additionally, companies will benefit from increased access to subject matter experts, cloud computing resources, and model development tools.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
