Eaton simplifies supervision of uninterruptible power systems
Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation introduced the Intelligent Power® Manager software for information technology managers and administrators.
The software, a cost-effective and secure way to remotely manage and monitor networked power and environmental devices, is a scalable program capable of lowering costs for supervising networked uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and associated equipment.
According to an Eaton report, Intelligent Power Manager can carry out a scan for all the UPS systems regardless of vendor, using both XML Web services and SNMP protocols. It also discovers and manages other critical power components, such as ePDU® products, shutdown modules and environmental sensors to give administrators comprehensive control of their protected infrastructure.
“Intelligent Power Manager is an excellent productivity tool that gives IT managers a global view of their power and environmental devices from any secure personal computer on the network,” said Bernard Lee, Product Manager, Eaton Power Quality Business Unit. “The flexible and intelligent monitoring of devices simplifies management, minimizes response time, reduces time to repair and substantially increases uptime – benefiting the bottom line.”
The software presents a consolidated view of main operating parameters of all UPS systems, which can be configured easily according to the type of UPS, location, operating status and other user-defined parameters. “This software gives IT users who may not have an in-depth knowledge of power quality concepts, an easy-to-use tool to manage and monitor power assets remotely,” added Bernard.
