Hongkong Land to sell MCL Land to Sunway for $739m

The total capital recycled by the company since 2024 has reached $2.6b.

Hongkong Land Holdings Limited has signed an agreement to divest its Singaporean and Malaysian residential development business, MCL Land, to Sunway Group for its net asset value of $739m.

Following the transaction, Hongkong Land said the total capital it has recycled since 2024 has reached $2.6b (US$2b), representing 50% of the company’s target of at least $5.13b (US$4b) by the end of 2027.

The proceeds will be used to strengthen Hongkong Land’s balance sheet and contribute an additional $192.4m (US$150m) to the company’s ongoing share buyback programme.

Completion of the agreement is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected before year’s end.

US$1 = $1.28

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
