Seatrium completes $65m AmFELS yard divestment in Texas

The deal includes $50m deferred payment due in one year.

Seatrium Limited has completed the divestment of its AmFELS yard in Brownsville, Texas, for $65m, after delivering all ongoing projects at the facility, according to a filing.

The divested assets had a book value of about $39m as at 30 June 2025 and were sold on an “as is, where is” basis.

The transaction was completed on 30 January and includes a deferred payment of $50m payable one year after closing, with Karpower Valley LLC, a related party of Karpowership, as the buyer.

The sale was first announced in September 2025 and was subject to customary closing conditions, including the transfer of the lease by the Port of Brownsville, according to Seatrium.

Following the divestment, Seatrium will continue to operate in the United States through its technology centres and offices in Houston, Texas, and its service centre in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
