MTI refreshes boards across six agencies

SDC gets a new chairman.

Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry will make board changes at six agencies from 1 April 2026, with the largest reshuffle taking place at Sentosa Development Corporation.

The ministry said the changes cover the Singapore Economic Development Board, Energy Market Authority, Enterprise Singapore, JTC Corporation, Sentosa Development Corporation, and Singapore Tourism Board.

At the Economic Development Board, Chng Kai Fong and AvePoint co-founder Jiang Tianyi will join the board, with Chng also appointed deputy chairman to coordinate Singapore’s AI efforts.

At the Energy Market Authority, Han Yong May and Ng Lai Leng will join the board, whilst Wong Hong Kuan has been re-appointed.

Enterprise Singapore will add Singapore Business Federation chairman and Pacific International Lines executive chairman Teo Siong Seng, and JTC Corporation will add NUS Cities director Yeo Siew Haip.

The most significant change is at Sentosa Development Corporation, where Bob Tan Beng Hai will step down as chairman after seven years.

Edmund Koh Kian Chew, who is currently deputy chairman of SDC and chairman of Asia Pacific UBS AG, will take over as chairman.

Sentosa Development Corporation will also add six new board members and re-appoint chief executive officer Thien Kwee Eng. Thien has also been re-appointed to the Singapore Tourism Board.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
