Samudera FY 2025 profit after tax rises to $96.9m

Board proposes 6.55-cent final, special dividends.

Samudera Shipping Line said profit after tax rose 8.3% to $96.9m (US$76.7m) for FY 2025, as revenue climbed 13.8% to $765.6m (US$605.7m).

Earnings per share rose to $0.180 ($0.1426) from $0.166 ($0.1317), whilst operating profit fell 8.1% to $96.2m (US$76.1m) as finance costs increased 21.2% to $22.9m (US$18.1m), the company said.

The board proposed a special dividend of $0.044 per share and a final dividend of $0.0215 per share, on top of an interim dividend of $0.015 per share declared for FY 2025, with the special and final payouts subject to shareholder approval at the April 2026 annual general meeting.

Samudera said container volumes handled rose 7.9% to 2.06m TEUs, supported by new services and additional port calls.

It said uncertainties in container shipping will persist into 2026, with freight rates expected to remain volatile, whilst charter rates are expected to stay relatively firm due to limited newbuild additions in 2026; the company had cash and bank balances of $442.6m (US$350.2m) and total borrowings of $135.7m (US$107.34m) at 31 December 2025.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
