Singtel’s Optus hit with $84.9m fine over sales practices
The penalty was fully accounted for in Optus' 2024/25 results.
The Australian Federal Court ordered Singtel’s Optus to pay a $84.9m (AUD100m) penalty for engaging in unconscionable conduct and inappropriate sales practices.
On 18 June, Optus Mobile Pty had settled with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, which included an Enforceable Undertaking and a proposed penalty.
Optus said the penalty was fully accounted for in its results for the year ended 31 March 2025.
