Chart of the Day: Foreigners preferred pricier CCR homes in Q3

Their proximity to the CBD contributed to the popularity amongst foreign buyers.

This chart by Edmund Tie Research shows that about seven in 10 of the sold units in Marina One Residences, the top-selling new project in the core central region (CCR) in Q3, were bought by foreigners. Leasehold development Haus on Handy was also considered one of the sought after projects amongst expat purchases.

The report attributed the popularity to “prime locational attributes, proximity to the CBD and quality furnishings and fittings of the projects.” In Haus on Handy’s case, the property is located near Dhoby Ghaut MRT and the prime shopping belt of the Orchard area.

In contrast, Singaporeans and permanent residents preferred the more attractively priced new developments in the rest of central region (RCR) and (OCR), purchasing over 90% of the units in these new launches sold in Q3 were purchased by SCs and SPRs.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
