Courts Singapore, ACE launch Singapore’s largest home improvement store

5 more stores are coming over the next 4 years.

One of Singapore’s leading retailer of electrical goods and homewares, Courts Singapore, is expanding its hardware offering through a partnership with US brand, ACE Hardware. Covering 8,000 sqft., Ace Home Improvement Solutions store bills itself as the largest in Singapore. It officially opened in Courts Megastore in Tampines on December 5, 2015.

The new store offers an extensive range of 15,000 brand products from international brands at any one time, including those from trusted and popular American brands that Singaporeans have difficulty obtaining. These products include any home needs, from common maintenance issues to larger-scale Do-It-Yourself projects, covering 14 product categories.

Group Furniture Director of Courts, Steve Church, notes that products from Ace were ‘carefully’ curated to ensure that they are Singapore-centric and suitable for the living space that locals are used to. He believes that DIY projects in Singapore will see fruition with more than 80% of Singaporeans living in HDB flats without a garage, balcony or garden.

Steve explained that instead of lawnmowers and chainsaws, Singaporeans can expect to see products that optimise space, fulfill everyday living needs, and the necessary tools and equipment required to fix, repair and maintain homes. For the less experienced DIYers, Steve said that there is also the option of letting them do it for you with their ‘Helpful Hub’.

Meanwhile, to ensure the best value, Steve said that Courts also benchmarked its prices against the local market. “This underscores our proposition of being a one-stop shopping destination for the home with the best breadth of choice, quality and value,” said Steve.

In the future, five Ace Home Improvement Solutions stores are opening in Singapore within the next four years under an exclusive partnership with Courts.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
