Fashion, gaming and beauty lead Singapore exports via PayPal

Gaming led monthly volume with around 1.7 million transactions.

Fashion, gaming, and beauty were the top-performing export categories for Singapore-based businesses selling internationally via PayPal, generating an estimated $827.4m (US$636m), $771.4m (US$593m), and $534.7m (US$411m), respectively, between April 2024 and March 2025.

Combined, the three verticals accounted for more than $2.1b (US$1.6b) in annual cross-border transaction value, according to new data released by PayPal.

In total, over 90,000 Singapore businesses—approximately one in four of the country’s 356,100 registered firms—transacted with overseas buyers using PayPal during the period. These businesses completed more than 60 million cross-border transactions, reaching more than 14 million global customers.

Monthly transaction volume was led by the gaming category, with an average of 1.7 million transactions per month.

Beauty followed with approximately 898,000 monthly transactions, including over 297,000 from Mexico alone. Fashion recorded about 737,000 transactions per month.

Digital goods, whilst not among the top three by value, saw significant activity as well, contributing more than $359.0m (US$276m) annually and about 665,000 monthly transactions—primarily from customers in the U.S., Germany, and Canada.

The United States remained the largest buyer market for Singapore sellers, accounting for over $1.1b (US$830m) in purchases.

Mexico emerged as a fast-growing corridor, generating more than 7 million purchases valued at over $481.3m (US$370m), largely driven by demand in the fashion and beauty segments.

The data is based on PayPal’s internal cross-border transaction records covering the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.
