Retail grows 2.7% as online shopping share plateaus

F&B sales rise 0.7% as online retail reaches 14.8%.

Singapore’s retail sales reached $4.8b in December 2025, representing a 2.7% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

According to a Department of Statistics Singapore report, the proportion of online sales for retail trade was 14.8% last month, lower than 17.0% in November 2025 which had major online shopping events.

Computer and telecommunications equipment accounted for 56.5% of December's online retail sales, followed by furniture and household equipment (33.4%) and supermarkets and hypermarkets industries (11.7%). 

Sales in the food and beverage services sector totalled $1b, inching up 0.7% from the previous year. Online sales accounted for 25.8%.

Growth was strongest in recreational goods, which rose 13.4%, followed by computer and telecommunications equipment which was up 12.8%, and motor vehicle sales which rose 10.4%.

In contrast, biggest declines were recorded in petrol service station sales that fell 9.1%, food and alcohol sales that dropped 7.1%.
