Rex International appoints Mike Hopkinson as COO

Hopkinson replaces retiring COO Svein Kjellesvik and will support Rex’s operations.

Rex International Holding has appointed Mike Hopkinson as its new Chief Operating Officer, replacing Svein Kjellesvik, who is retiring.

Hopkinson has been the General Manager of Rex subsidiary Masirah Oil Ltd since 2023. Masirah Oil operates the Yumna Field in Block 50, Oman.

He has more than 30 years of upstream oil and gas experience across exploration, development, and production, covering onshore, offshore, shallow-water, and deep-water projects.

His previous project locations include the UK North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Ukraine, Georgia, Ecuador, and Guatemala. Before joining Masirah Oil, he was Energy Transition Coordinator for Cox Oil in Dallas, Texas.

Rex CEO Per Lind said Hopkinson is suited for the COO role given the group’s focus on operations and its upcoming drilling programme in Oman.

Lind also thanked Kjellesvik, who had served as COO since October 2015, for overseeing the group’s operations and supporting the integration of new business development plans.

Rex is an SGX-listed multinational oil exploration and production company with interests in Norway, Germany, Oman, and Benin.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
