Seasonally adjusted retail sales decreased 2.9% in January 2011

However, January still showed strong retail sales in nominal terms with an increase of 2.9 per cent compared to January 2010.

According to Singapore Department of Statistics, excluding motor vehicles, retail sales (seasonally adjusted) went up 1.6 per cent in January 2011 compared to December 2010.

Retail sales excluding vehicles grew by 15.6% in January 2011 compared to January 2010.

Food & beverage sales (seasonally adjusted) rose 5.2% in January 2011 compared to December 2010. Compared to a year ago, food & beverage sales went up 7.6% in January 2011.
