Negotiations on Telkom-Telkomsel integration ongoing – Singtel

Telkom is eyeing to integrate its fixed broadband business into Telkomsel.

Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) is  “in discussions” with PT Telkom Indonesia  (Telkom) on the integration of its fixed broadband business into Telkomsel.

In a bourse filing, Singtel said the integration presents Telkomsel with a “rare opportunity” to enter the high-growth fixed broadband market in Indonesia with an industry leader that has some 70% share of the market.

“Around the world, post-pandemic demand for high-quality fixed broadband has jumped and this is all the more apparent in an emerging market like Indonesia. Singtel will support this integration if the terms make sense for Telkomsel and our shareholders, and achieve a win-win transaction with our partner Telkom,” Singtel said.

“Negotiations are still ongoing and there is no certainty of a transaction. If, and when, there is any material information that warrants disclosure, Singtel will, in compliance with applicable rules, make an announcement as appropriate,” the company added.
