The collaboration will facilitate mutual exchange of knowledge through training programmes.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to combat scams across telecommunication channels.

The MOU will boost cross-border exchange of strategic intelligence and develop a coordinated regional approach to protect the citizens of both countries from scammers.

Strategies include providing regulatory assistance and cooperation and facilitating research and education related to scam telephone calls and text messages.

The parties will also facilitate the mutual exchange of knowledge and expertise through training programmes and staff exchanges.
