SIA Cargo inaugurates services to Tokyo via Bangkok and Taipei

New services to enhance economic ties and cooperation between South East Asia and Japan.

SIA Cargo will be launching new freighter services to Tokyo Narita via Bangkok and Taipei to offer freight forwarders and exporters greater convenience in shipping their cargo.

SIA Cargo will operate two new freighter services a week between Singapore and Tokyo via Taipei from 19 October, continuing into the peak year-end season, according to a SIA Cargo report.

A third weekly freighter service via Taipei to Narita will start on 6 November.

SIA Cargo will also mount new direct freighter services from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita with effect from 3 November 2010. The twice-weekly services will operate every Wednesday and Friday.

SIA Cargo’s parent company, Singapore Airlines, will also be operating new twice-daily passenger services between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda airport from 31 October 2010, complementing the existing twice-daily passenger services to Tokyo Narita.

These new freighter services as well as the new passenger services to Tokyo will further facilitate and enhance the economic ties and cooperation between South East Asia and Japan.

Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan are major trading partners and these additional freighter services will enhance the movement of manufactured goods, electronic devices, food products, machinery and computers between these markets.

“We are pleased to mount new freighter services between these four cities in response to demand for capacity and we look forward to the support of our customers,” said Mr Tan Tiow Kor, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
