SIA hits record 90.3% load factor as ME conflict reroutes Europe traffic

Combined passenger carriage increased 14.9% YoY to 3.8 million passengers.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic rose 14.7% year on- ear in March, outpacing the passenger capacity increase of 7.2%, according to a press release.

The group’s passenger load factor (PLF) was 90.6%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 90.3%, a new monthly PLF record, and 91.7%, respectively.

SIA said the growth was driven by the increase in demand ahead of the Easter holiday, as well as the spillover Europe-bound traffic as capacity in the Middle East air hubs was affected by the ongoing conflict.

Moreover, combined passenger carriage increased 14.9% YoY to 3.8 million passengers, bringing the total for the financial year 2025 to 42.4 million.

On the cargo front, cargo loads rose 2.4% YoY, despite a capacity decrease of 1.3%, partly supported by spillover volumes. Cargo load factor increased 2.1 percentage points to 59.0%.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
