Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic grew 5.3% year on year (YoY) in October, outpacing the 3.7% increase in passenger capacity, according to a bourse filing.
The group’s passenger load factor rose 1.3 percentage points to 87.3%, with SIA at 86.8% and Scoot at 89.0%.
The two airlines carried a combined total of 3.6 million passengers, representing an 8.3% increase.
Meanwhile, cargo carriage decreased 4.6% YoY, whilst cargo loads fell 9.1% and capacity rose 0.3%, resulting in a cargo load factor of 53.5%, 5.6 percentage points lower than the previous year.
The softened cargo demand across all route regions was attributed to global trade tensions and unplanned aircraft maintenance.
By the end of October, the group’s passenger network covered 130 destinations in 37 countries, with SIA serving 78 and Scoot 75.
The cargo network reached 134 destinations in 38 countries.
