Singapore renews LACAC deal to boost Latin American training
Under the agreement, AAS will offer 75 fellowships over the next three years for aviation professionals from LACAC’s 22 member states.
Singapore and the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) have renewed their partnership to strengthen civil aviation training in the Latin American region.
The new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Ng Tee Chiou, Deputy Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), and Ingrid Azucena Zelaya Florian, President of LACAC and Director General of Guatemala’s Civil Aviation Authority.
Under the agreement, CAAS will offer 75 fellowships over the next three years for aviation professionals from LACAC’s 22 member states.
The fellowships will fund participation in specialised training courses at the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA), focusing on aviation safety, security, air traffic services, and aviation management.
Additionally, CAAS will conduct three in-region training programmes tailored to the needs of Latin American aviation authorities.
The enhanced MoU also introduces three new initiatives. First, three scholarships will be awarded to young aviation professionals aged 35 and below under the Singapore-ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme.
These recipients will take part in a six-week programme in Singapore combining classroom training, industry attachment, and mentorship.
Second, the ICAO-SAA Directors-General of Civil Aviation Programme will be held in Latin America for the first time.
Third, the agreement includes high-level and staff exchange opportunities to encourage ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
