OKP unit wins $165.3m LTA contract for bridge accessibility upgrades

The project covers lift installations and commuter improvements at 30 overhead crossings.

OKP Holdings' subsidiary has been awarded a $165.3m contract by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to carry out commuter infrastructure works at pedestrian overhead bridges across Singapore.

The contract, which began on 25 May, was awarded to the group’s wholly owned subsidiary, Or Kim Peow Contractors. It will run for 48 months.

Works under the project include the design and construction of lift shafts at 30 existing pedestrian overhead bridges around Singapore.

The contract also covers related infrastructure such as lift lobbies, link bridges, covered linkways, and roof covers.

Additional works include upgrades at selected pedestrian overhead bridges, modifications to existing lift shafts, and the construction of a new covered pedestrian overhead bridge with lift access and connecting covered linkways across the Tampines Expressway.

The latest award follows OKP’s $87.3m LTA contract secured in February for commuter infrastructure works along the Jurong Region Line.

OKP said its net construction order book increased to $760.7m following the contract award, with projects scheduled through 2031.

Managing director Or Toh Wat said the group will continue supporting Singapore’s transport infrastructure development through the latest project, which includes accessibility improvements for commuters and pedestrians.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
