SMRT pilots AI platform ‘JARVIS’ for predictive rail maintenance
The system uses GenAI and vector search to deliver engineering insights.
SMRT is piloting a project built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the Oracle Autonomous AI Database to improve rail maintenance through its intelligent data artificial intelligence (AI) platform, JARVIS.
The project integrates OCI Enterprise AI with the platform, developed by STRIDES Technologies, the group’s engineering and technology arm.
It leverages vector search capabilities and large language models to generate AI-driven insights and improve response times for maintenance teams.
The platform consolidates data from multiple standalone systems, enabling analysis of train performance, sensor readings, and asset lifecycle information.
In addition, it applies machine learning and includes a generative AI chatbot interface.JARVIS is designed to support predictive fault detection and enable proactive maintenance interventions.
Its development and validation were supported by Oracle’s AI Customer Excellence Center, which provided cloud and AI infrastructure.
