OMNIVISION clinches accolade at Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026

The OAX4600 delivers AI-enabled in-cabin monitoring for next-generation automotive safety systems.

OMNIVISION won AI - Semiconductor in the Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its OAX4600, the automotive industry's first fully integrated AI-enabled ASIC for simultaneous Driver Monitoring System and Occupant Monitoring System operations.

Designed and built entirely by OMNIVISION's Singapore ASIC team, the OAX4600 combines a sophisticated Image Signal Processor with dual Neural Processing Units, delivering 2 tera operations per second alongside Seeing Machines’ Occula NPU. This dual-NPU architecture enables simultaneous execution of multiple complex AI models whilst maintaining low power consumption, meeting the stringent requirements of automotive-grade in-cabin monitoring applications.

The chip features embedded 2Gb DDR3 memory in a compact form factor, setting new standards for power and space efficiency. Supporting Pytorch, TensorFlow, and ONNX frameworks, OMNIVISION’s in-house AI toolchain includes a compiler, simulator, visualiser, quantisation tools, and a proprietary inference engine. This complete ecosystem allows automotive manufacturers to optimise AI models and deploy them efficiently on the dual-NPU hardware.

OMNIVISION’s OAX4600 entered mass production with multiple automotive manufacturers and is progressing towards additional deployments. Customers report that the solution is highly optimised for in-cabin monitoring, providing the necessary performance and flexibility for next-generation safety systems.

The platform’s comprehensive Software Development Kit allows extensive customisation to meet diverse manufacturer requirements and adapt to evolving safety regulations.
