Savant Degrees wins at Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026

The PrimerStar platform integrates Mastercard NGP and tokenisation to create a unified experience for retail shoppers.

Savant Degrees won Fintech - Retail in the Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026. The company was recognised for its role as the product and experience innovation partner in the development of PrimerStar, a mobile-first loyalty and payments platform.

The platform is currently live across four flagship Primer Group stores at Funan, Singapore, including brands such as Hydro Flask, TOMS, Herschel, and Allbirds. Savant Degrees led the end-to-end design and execution, utilising a Working Backwards methodology to translate multi-brand retail requirements into a scalable digital ecosystem. This approach focused on resolving operational friction points such as fragmented loyalty systems, complex branding guidelines, and slow checkout processes.

PrimerStar delivers a single-flow retail experience that converges loyalty and payments at the point of sale. Through the use of Mastercard Next Generation Point-of-Interaction (NGP) capabilities and tokenisation, customers use a QR-based flow to identify membership, earn or redeem rewards, and complete a secure payment in one step. This eliminates the need for separate loyalty scans and card taps, whilst tokenisation ensures security-by-design for fast card-on-file transactions.

Whilst many loyalty applications operate for a single brand, PrimerStar supports cross-brand engagement across the Primer Group ecosystem. This allows customers to manage rewards, digital receipts, and offers across various participating brands in one location. The platform also links in-store purchases to digital touchpoints, which strengthens omnichannel engagement and enables data-driven marketing through a unified customer view.

Savant Degrees designed and delivered the solution across iOS and Android to ensure seamless access for all users. The successful launch at the Funan stores serves as a blueprint for future expansion across more brands and markets. Early feedback indicates smoother checkout experiences and stronger customer engagement since the implementation of the QR-based one-flow system.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
