SIA Engineering Company wins at Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026

AI ecosystem enhances operational efficiency and safety across core MRO and support functions.

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) won AI - Aviation in the Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its initiative, Making Operations and Support Functions Intelligent through AI.

The company deployed a holistic AI ecosystem that integrates intelligence into both operational and support functions, transforming the core Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) business. Its suite of interconnected solutions includes an AI-powered defect recommendation engine, autonomous task validation, and resource optimisation platforms, all designed to improve efficiency, enhance safety, and support data-driven operational standards.

At the frontline, the Engineer Assist recommendation engine harnesses a sophisticated Retrieval-Augmented Generation framework to analyse multiple knowledge bases and historical defect fixes, providing engineers with the most relevant rectification methods for identified defects. This allows for on-demand access to critical knowledge, which empowers engineers with faster diagnosis, and more informed maintenance decision-making. Complementing this, the Task Card Validator, embedded within SIAEC’s Electronic Line Maintenance Integrated Technology Ecosystem (eLITE) application, strengthens operational integrity by ensuring that task cards are accurate, compliant, and complete both before execution and upon completion by authorised maintenance personnel.

The Artificial intelligence ecosystem also extends to critical support functions. Vetting Assist and the Freight Invoice Validator automate financial governance processes using Generative AI. Vetting Assist significantly reduces manual review effort whilst safeguarding billing accuracy, ensuring contractual compliance and early detection of discrepancies to prevent overcharges and optimise cost control.

Its Optimisation Engine serves as the capstone of the initiative. Leveraging on advanced Operations Research (OR) models, it streamlines the assignment of thousands of engineers and ground assets. This enhances scheduling efficiency, improves maintenance turnaround and enables more effective allocation of critical resources.
